What is a data center?

What exactly IS a data center? At Facebook, we get this question A LOT. Many people wondered why there was a massive building being built in the middle of nowhere. This short film was a way for us to inform the public on what exactly a data center is, what it does, and how it affects the environment and local economy. We wanted this to be light and informative, which is why we worked with a wonderful illustrator and animator to bring this one to life.
